THE BEST INGREDIENTS MAKE FOR THE
BEST SUSHI EXPERIENCE.
SUSHI, BY DEFINITION, IS A SIMPLE COMBINATION OF QUALITY INGREDIENTS. EVERY CHEF WILL TELL YOU THAT FEWER THE INGREDIENTS THERE ARE IN A DISH, THE MORE IMPORTANT THE QUALITY OF EACH INGREDIENT BECOMES. THAT IS A CHALLENGE WE LOVE AT SUSHI SHOP.
We work with a network of local as well as international producers, growers and distributors to obtain fresh top quality ingredients. Our role is to insure that all of our suppliers, here and abroad, respect our high standards that aim to insure top quality, freshness, flavour, texture and security for our customers.
Ginger
Ginger is a perennial plant of which we eat the root. Its strong odor is due to the highly volatile compounds it contains. It is known for its tonic and stimulating qualities. In small doses, ginger stimulates the taste buds. It is also recommended to eat a little piece of ginger between sushi to prepare the palate for the next bite.
Wasabi
Wasabi is a lime green paste that is prepared with the root part of the japanese wasabi plant. It can be compared to a type of mustard because of its strong taste. Wasabi, also known as Japanese horseradish, is known for its antiseptic qualities and is used to enhance taste. It is usually diluted in soy sauce as an accompaniment to sushi.
Daikon
A classic ingredient in Japanese cuisine, Daikon looks a lot like a carrot but, in reality, is a close relative to the radish family. Its light coloured flesh contains high quantities of vitamin C. Appreciated for centuries for its mild taste and ability to facilitate digestion.
Oshinko
Marinated Daikon, that’s it.
